Striking writers write for YouTube instead of playing golf

Warning: this post is not about golf.

A friend of mine works on the TV show “Samantha Who” and is currently out of work because of the strike. At a party over the weekend, his wife was joking with me about how much he was driving her crazy being at home all the time. She told me about this video they received from one of the writers on the show and then forwarded it along to me the next day. It’s about the same scenario she’s facing – the husband at home driving the wife bananas. His wife refused to participate in the video so he has Christina Applegate (the star of the TV show) play her part. It’s hilarious.

Personally, I think these writers should take up golf!

  1. …and therein lies the truth. Most women don’t mind their husbands playing golf – despite the mythology that says women hate it when their husbands play golf because they’re left alone all day. Yeah, right. Maybe that was true in the 50’s and 60’s but not now. Most women today are very happy to have their husband occupied for 4 hours so they can do their own thing. Like work or shop or write or play golf.

    Great video!

I love the line “they’re actually doing things!”

Oh and “she’s dumb but I love her”

I know some wives still struggle with it, though. Maybe because the husband spends ALL his time away from her and the children. Then comes a weekend day when she thinks she and the kids are going to be able to spend some time with him and poof… he’s on the golf course.

  3. I play regularly w/ Christina’s dad, Bob Applegate. He’ll be happy to know Christina was posted on a golf blog!

Hey Artful golfer – that’s cool. I just got an email from Bob (Kushell, not Applegate). Maybe we can all get together for a round. Wait, does Christina play? This is the golf CHICK site, after all. 😉

  5. Hi Kristen, I sent you an email in response your reply. I’m pretty confident Christina doesn’t play, and won’t. I’m sure her dad has tried numerous times! Like us, he’s pretty addicted to the game 😉

  6. I am going to play golf for my school this fall. I have no idea how to play. But I’m going to learn. But before all that, I need equiptment. I found some clubs on clearance for 119.99 original 345.99. They’re ladies right hand, 18 piece set, Produced by Cougar, the X-Cat series. Is this a good deal?? Are they crappy clubs? Or are they sufficient for a beginner? Or should i spend a little more to get better quality?? And if so, what would you recomend?

  7. He could also check around a local course to see whether a member might have a set for sale. If he wants to go new, then he should visit a retailer and try out different brands to see what works best for him. Golf equipment can get quite expensive so he needs to be prepared to put out five or six hundred dollars at a minimum for a ‘fair’ quality new set. Top of the line sets (iron sets, woods and putters are generally sold separately) can be well over a thousand dollars initial outlay so he does need to be sure that he’s getting what he likes and not what the salesman is trying to sell him.
